Fan favourite Fatboy made a shocking return to EastEnders this week - but could he actually be alive? Viewers were delighted when Ricky Norwood made a surprise cameo on Monday night, bringing his popular character back to screens.

Arthur 'Fatboy' Chubbs was 'killed off' in 2015 as part of a storyline with Vincent Hubbard. But viewers of the BBC soap never saw a body.

Now, some fans are convinced could have been alive this whole time following his unannounced cameo earlier this week. He featured in a flashback sequence as Cindy Beale recalled the night she discovered Lucy Beale had died.

Some viewers think Fatboy knows the witness protection officer Mary and might be in witness protection himself, Mirror Online reports. If true, it could mean he is still alive and could even make a return 'from the dead'.

EastEnders may have even dropped a huge clue about Fatboy eight months ago - when viewers bid a heartbreaking farewell to Dot Cotton. Fatboy was close to Dot when he was in Albert Square.

Eagle-eyed fans now think they noticed a clue 'proving' Fatboy is alive. Dot's great-nephew Reiss Colwell was seen opening letters and cards of condolences sent to Sonia.

One caught the eyes of fans, with the significance becoming even clearer now. In one scene, Reiss is holding a 'With Deepest Sympathy' card.

The message reads: "Mrs B – Forever in my heart. Arthur x." Fans now believe this hints at Fatboy's return - as he often lovingly referred to Dot as 'Mrs B' and his real name is Arthur.

Ricky has previously spoken out about making a return to Walford. He said: "I mean, it's EastEnders and if you're a fan of EastEnders then you'll know that there are many characters that have died and come back.

"So, you know, anything is possible. EastEnders is such a big machine, they’re going in 100 different directions right now. They know my number, I’m still a friend of the family there. There ain't no hate, there ain't no animosity."
